Here at Stat Check we've put together a public data dashboard that provides the quickest, at-a-glance, single- (computer) screen assessment of the overall competitive meta for Warhammer 40,000.
The data that drives this dashboard is all Warhammer 40,000 events across the globe with a minimum of 25 players and 5 rounds.
The Meta filter below allows you to choose any or all of 9th Edition's 2022 game states. Each "Meta" is accompanied by a description of its characteristics (usually rules releases).
The Player Faction and Subfaction filters allow you to choose to show the results of any factions/subfactions.
The "Player - AoC?" filters for factions with the Armour of Contempt rule.
The Player GT+ Experience filter lets you filter for the results of games in which the "Player" was a GT+ Veteran (attended 4+ GT), an Experienced player (2-3 GT+) or a GT+ Newcomer (attended 1).
The Opponent Faction and Subfaction filters allow you to choose to show the results of any factions/subfactions.
The "Opponent - AoC?" filters for factions with the Armour of Contempt rule.
The Opponent GT+ Experience filter lets you filter for the results of games in which the "Opponent" was a GT+ Veteran or a GT+ Casual.
The Date filter allows you to choose any combination of weekends this year, and the data will include all events up to that date.
The Mirror filter allows you to either include or exclude mirror matches in the data feeding into the visualisations below. The default setting excludes all mirror matches.
Factions in the GREEN area win 45% to 55% of their games - these are reasonably balanced.
The ORANGE areas win 40% - 45%, and 55% - 60% of their games. These factions are respectively under and overpowered. Factions below 40% and above 60% are broken.
All three charts are interlinked - clicking on a Faction icon below will change the visualisations on the right to display that faction's data. Try it!
The Tree Maps below show Win Rates and Games Played. The top displays data for each Subfaction, and the bottom does so for all Faction v. Faction match-ups.
The colours allow at-a-glance assessment of performance. BLUE colour intensity indicates higher win rates, while RED indicates lower.
Larger blocks = more games played. The mouse-over tool-tip displays information for smaller blocks.
This dashboard was designed to provide an at-a-glance view of the 40K GT+ meta on a single computer screen. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have.
Special thanks to all the tournament organisation tools that make this effort possible!
